Mahsa amini and Iran’s rigid laws
Mahsa Amini's death
has shown Iran’s biased policy against women's freedom. She died in
a coma following her detention by the moral police. Mahsa Amini was apprehended for
improperly wearing a hijab by the Moral Police. Now you must be thinking
what is the moral police? The moral police were established in the year 2005 by
the state, basically, the moral police run the van in public places, e.g, in markets.
And the work of the police is to keep their eyes on the women, are they following
the proper dress code or not? shocked?
but that’s true.
Mahsa amini death
has led to public outrage across the country. People have started gathering majorly
women. They are waving and burning their veils. Cutting and shaving their hair &
head publicly. Asking the accountability for her death. The public is questioning
the authority regarding their freedom and these rigid religious rules which are against women’s autonomy.
It leads to another question, why does the state
amalgamate the state law with religious rules?
For the answer, we
need to understand the fundamentalist law of Iran and for that, we need to go
back to history. It all started with the Iranian revolution in 1979, the
reason for the revolution was to overthrow the monarchical form of govt and
establish the Islamic republic. The day of the revolution was also called Black Friday as it took the lives of 100 people. It happened under the leadership of Ayatollah Khomeini.
Revolution always
brings radical change in society same happened there too. In the context of women the
consequences were extensive, it snatched the rights of the women & dictate how
to dress-
·
Mandatory
veiling &follow hijab
·
Headcover &fitting clothes
·
Mixed-gender parties are not allowed.
·
Mixes
gender dancing is banned
·
Men
and women are not allowed to swim together
·
Women
aren’t allowed to attend a sports events.
The death raised several questions who will
take accountability for her death? Iranian government said “we are
investigating the whole case” since moral police has apprehended her so Moral
police would be the culprit, ultimately state’s biased law.
In our world, there
are the women like Jacinda Ardern who hold the position of of New Zealand but
on the other hand, Iran’s women are fighting for their basic rights.
Literally, the way u explain this topic is truly very amazing!!!keep writing.....
